Progressives call for Civil Rights Director to resign. After several sexist comments by the Michigan Department of Civil Rights Director Augustin Arbulu became public, progressive groups and lawmakers are calling on him to resign. In addition to calling for his resignation, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has also barred him from cabinet meetings.

Nessel joins multiple federal lawsuits. This week, AG Dana Nessel joined onto a lawsuit against the Trump administration EPA and also moved to sue the federal government for violating immigrants’ rights.

Tom Leonard nominated for U.S. Attorney position. The Trump administration has nominated former House Speaker and AG candidate Tom Leonard to be the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan. Read more here.

Republican road funding plan includes significant cuts to public services. As budget negotiations continue, Republicans in the legislature are pushing a plan that would cut public services to pay for road repairs. More on their plan here.

Royal Oak Police racially profile black man. This week, officers with the Royal Oak Police Department stopped a black man for “looking suspiciously” at a white woman. Details of the incident can be found here.

Activists, lawmakers tell Dearborn police to stop cooperating with ICE. Joined by U.S. Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Debbie Dingell, and Andy Levin, activists called on the Dearborn Police Department to end their cooperation with ICE. Get the full story here.
